A Campaign was Launched To Put A Female Face On The 20 Dollar Bill
The campaign called Women on 20s, aims to gather enough support to convince President Barack Obama that it is time for a woman’s face to be put on paper currency in time for the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
The choice for the new 20 dollar bill is in the hands of the public. The secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury is in charge of the designs and portraits that appear on any dollar bills, and by law only a deceased person can appear on U.S. currency.
Women on 20s hopes to gather enough support and enough signatures on petition to persuade President Obama to direct the secretary of the U.S. Department of Treasury to make the change.
