A self-defense wearable technology company co-founded by, Yasmin Mustafa, is focused on empowering women to diminish attacks against us and address the underlying sources of violence. Roar For Good has high hopes to help us live life boldly without fear.
“Every two minutes, a woman is attacked in America,” says Mustafa. “What can I do?”
Mustafa says “The idea came to me last year after a 29-year-old woman was beaten and raped a block from my apartment. She went out to feed her meter when a man came up behind her, dragged her to a nearby alley, and sexually assaulted her while her friends were waiting for her at a bar less than 100 feet away.”
Women are constantly told not to stay out late, walk down certain areas, or go out alone. We’re encouraged to adapt to the expectation of violence, alter our lifestyle, modify our behavior, or to carry a self-defense device to protect ourselves. Because the fear of possible threats is always there.
