An Alabama mom and her son grabbed lunch at their local Waffle House. What happened there was remarkable.
5-year-old Josiah Duncan noticed a man standing outside the restaurant alone, holding a bag and a bike. He asked him Mom why he looked like he did and his Mom said he was homeless, which Josiah didn’t understand. So he asked, “Where is his house? Where is his family? Where does he keep his groceries?”
He begged Mom to buy him a meal.
Josiah and Ava walked the man into the Waffle House and Josiah rushed to bring the man a menu, and assured him he could order whatever he wanted. But before the man could take his first bite, Josiah did something that made his story go viral.
With 11 other customers watching Josiah sang a blessing as loud as he could. “God our Father, God our Father, we thank you, we thank you, for our many blessings, for our many blessings, Amen, Amen.”
The man cried, ate his meal, and went on his way.
“Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness,” Ava told WSFA 12 News.
Sometimes, it’s these little acts of kindness that are enough to restore one’s faith in humanity.
