Women often wonder if its cool to wear makeup to the gym. And if so, then what would be the appropriate amount? Well ladies you don’t have to be perfect, but you can still be your best version of the “bare-face” look. Jessica via Self.com shares her tips and routine on a subtle way to prepare yourself before hitting the gym.
1. Start with a clean face always. I’ll even do a gentle exfoliation with a konjac sponge before the gym. It rubs away dry, flaky skin without scrapes and gives you a fresher appearance.
2. Apply a couple drops of face oil or moisturizer. Pick one that’s absorbed quickly into the skin. I love the Organic Rose Aromatic Care Essential Oils from Darphin.
3. Put a spot of lip balm on. You’ve got to stay soft, even when it’s a hard workout. I swear by Honest Company Organic Lip Balm in Plain & Simple.
4. Curl your eyelashes—especially with the gold standard of curlers, the Shu Uemura.
I’ll also use a light eye cream or moisturizer to get a dewy look without clogging pores. (Try Weleda Iris Hydrating Night Cream.) Apply along outer edge and under the eye, at the high part of cheekbone, and finish with a quick swipe down the bridge of nose. It helps to reflect the light, so even when you’re squinting in pain, you’re deflecting those (well-earned) fine lines.
If you have blemishes, use a dry formula spot concealer with staying power, like Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, which is waterproof—it won’t move when you sweat. Just dab on with a warm finger to blend.
